- With national and international leaders of the mineral sector, representatives from federal, state and municipal authorities, the academic community and organised civil society, debate the new challenges which, due to the current socio-economic scenario resulting from the world financial crisis, the sector has been dealing with in expanding its activities and outline strategies to overcome these obstacles;
- Via analyses of the lessons learnt in other mining countries, examine the relationships between politics, legal frames and the competitiveness of mining;
- Discuss new trends and approaches to improve socio-environmental sustainability within the mining industry and the importance of incorporating these variables in business strategies.
