Properties

With 4.5 to 5 hardness, it can be colorless, white, pale yellow, sky blue and brown. Transparent to translucent, hemimorphite can present adamantine, vitreous and pearlescent glosses.

Curiosities

Named in 1853 by Adolph Kenngott, due to the crystal hemimorphic morphology, both ends have contrary symmetries.

Use

It is a secondary zinc ore and collectors´ piece.
