Properties
High hardness rare mineral, around 8.5, vitreous to resin gloss, usually presents greenish shades, but also yellowish, red and even brown ones.
Origin
Teixeira de Freitas, MG, Brazil.
Curiosities
The first chrysoberyl occurrence was registered in Minas Gerais, and it is a Brazilian mineral type. Later, it was also found in Bahia and Espírito Santo.
Use
Alexandrite variety is a valuable and rare gemstone, achieving large values in fine samples.
